Why the discount is a bad trade
On a $1,200 watch, 5 percent is $60. What you hand over for that $60 is the ability to recover $1,200 if the watch never arrives, arrives wrong, or arrives broken outside a warranty that only covers the movement anyway.
A discount for paying by an irreversible method is the market paying you to give up your protection. Take the card and lose the 5 percent.
This is not a criticism unique to TrustyTime. Almost every seller in this market prices irreversible payment lower, because irreversible payment is worth more to them.
What a refund actually costs
A 25 percent restocking fee applied at the seller's discretion means a $1,200 return can come back as $900. Combined with a warranty that covers Movement only, the practical position is that you are buying the watch as it arrives, and the QC photographs are your only real inspection.

Where we differ
Our warranty runs 24 months on the whole watch, in writing, and we place no time limit on approving your QC photographs. We would rather answer a question a day late than ship a watch you did not agree to.
